About The Project
In 2016, Springfield Sign was given the task of accurately re-creating the Tyson Chicken Feed & Hatchery sign, which from the 1940s to the 1970s was a prominent icon hanging over the company's main office building located in downtown Springdale, AR. However, when the company moved it's headquarters in the late 1970s, the sign was removed and never seen again, as we were told. Then, when Tyson Chicken began their works of moving it's headquarters , and reconnecting itself back to downtown Springdale, we were armed with only a handful of black and white images as references points of the original sign, and were asked to design, build, and install a historically accurate re-creation of the original, matching the splendor and uniqueness that it once portrayed. Challenge accepted! This newly re-created sign, completed in late 2017, would help play an integral part in recapturing the essence of an era gone by that once was in downtown Springdale - an essence that Tyson Chicken was hoping to re-capture - and successfully has. After many hours of research, meetings and concepts between Springfield Sign and Tyson Chicken, we were able to replicate the original sign with exceptional accuracy and detail. So now the question is, which came first? It'll be hard for passersby's to know that this sign is not the original!
